Now that President Donald Trump has fired untrustworthy and incompetent James Comey, the FBI Director position is now open and there has been vast speculation over who Trump will choose.
Republican Congressman Trey Gowdy of South Carolina and former Mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani had reportedly become finalists for the job, but they have since withdrawn their names from consideration. In a disturbing turn of events, a notable liberal has now become a finalist in their stead.
Many establishment “Never Trump” Republicans are trying to steady the ship by coaxing Trump to nominate someone who will please the Democrats whose feathers were ruffled when he fired Comey. As consequence, they are urging him to choose former Senator Joe Lieberman.
Lieberman, who hails from the blue state of Connecticut, was a longtime Democrat in the U.S. Senate before turning independent at the tail end of his career. Lieberman rose to greatest prominence in American politics when he served as Democrat Al Gore’s running mate in his unsuccessful White House bid in 2000.
Despite a knack for independent thinking, Lieberman has always taken strongly pro-choice positions, and has an “F” rating on gun rights issues from the National Rifle Association. Why should President Donald Trump appoint a new FBI Director who does not have conservative values?
