Thankfully, President Donald Trump honored the American voters who put him in the White House, and appointed people to his cabinet and his administration who share the same values.
President Trump did not “reach across the aisle” and offer positions to Democrats. However, it has now been rumored that Trump is considering putting a Democrat in his cabinet, after all. It is part of a strategic move that could result in Trumpcare finally passing in the Senate.
Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia is up for reelection in 2018, and it appears his hopes of winning are increasingly slim in the rock-solid conservative state. Many have speculated that he may want to avoid the embarrassment that comes with defeat, and instead take a position as Trump’s Energy Secretary.
Explained Bloomberg how it would affect Trumpcare, “If Manchin were offered and accepted the position, that would allow West Virginia’s Governor Jim Justice — a newly minted Republican — to appoint a GOP successor and bring the party a vote closer in the Senate to being able to repeal Obamacare.”
Manchin’s spokesman Jonathan Kott, however, has denied these reports. He stated, “Sen. Manchin has not had any recent conversations with the administration about the Secretary of Energy position. He remains committed to serving the people of West Virginia.” Do you think it would be worth it for Trump to put a Democrat on his cabinet if it means getting Obamacare finally repealed?
