Conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is not known to be someone who weighs in on the political or social issues of the day. However, Thomas clearly felt that the time had come to let everybody knows where he stands on the matter of Colin Kaepernick and all the anthem-protesting NFL players.

Laura Ingraham recently interviewed Clarence, and asked him what he thought of the anthem kneelers, as well as other liberals who want to take down “offensive” Confederate military figure and Columbus statues. Thomas answered bluntly, “No, I’m not surprised. I mean, what binds us?”

He went on, “When I was a kid, even as we had laws that held us apart, there were things that we held dear and that we all had in common. And I think we have to — we always talk about ‘e pluribus unum.’ What’s our ‘unum’ now? We have the ‘pluribus.’ What’s the ‘unum?’”

Thomas pointed out how so many have decided to disrespect our country’s traditions, stating, “Some people have decided that the Constitution isn’t worth defending, that history isn’t worth defending, that the culture and principles aren’t worth defending. And, certainly, if you are in my position, they have to be worth defending. That’s what keeps you going. That’s what energizes you.”

He added, distressingly, about America’s future with all the protests happening, “I don’t know what it is that we have, we can say instinctively, we have as a country in common.” Do you think Clarence is right? Watch below:
