The armed attack against Republican Rep. Scalise and some of his congressional colleagues at an Alexandria, Virginia baseball diamond should have given liberals the jolt they needed to finally realize how dangerous their extremist words and actions have become.
Instead of using the event to rapidly change his behavior, a Democratic political strategist from New Jersey just doubled down on his hatred ad promotion of violence against President Donald Trump and conservatives by starting a truly sickening social media campaign.
James Devine has been attempting to spread the hashtags #HuntRepublicans and #HuntRepublicanCongressmen through his Twitter account. Wrote Devine in one post, “We are in a war with selfish, foolish & narcissistic rich people. Why is it a shock when things turn violent?#HuntRepublicanCongressmen”
When a local news outlet in New Jersey confronted Devine about this hateful and clearly dangerous effort, Devine responded, “I really apologize to any Republican snowflakes out there wringing their hands on Fox News because I hurt their feelings. That’s the apology. ‘I don’t have time for political correctness’ is the president’s mantra, so don’t ask me to play by different rules. I’m not going to unilaterally disarm myself in the face of maniacs.”
Devine later blamed Trump and the Republicans for Bernie Sanders volunteer James Hodgkinson’s gun attack against Rep. Steve Scalise, saying, “Yesterday’s events are the result of escalating rhetoric and vitriol that has been evident in our political system culminating with the election of our president and the chickens came home to roost, you know?” Do you think this extremist should be investigated?
