A book about Hillary Clinton’s failed Presidential campaign was recently released called “Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign”. In the book Hillary admitted something incredible. This was going to be her last run for president.
The book begins by taking about Hillary on election night. “Obama’s legacy and her dreams of the Presidency lay shattered at Donald Trump’s feet. This was on her. Reluctantly she rose from her seat and took the phone. ‘Mr President,’ she said softly. ‘I’m sorry’,” said the book.
It also stated how Obama had to convince her over the phone to concede defeat. “Look, I really just want to concede gracefully, wish him the best, thank everybody, and get off the stage. This is not a moment for me to do more than that,” Hillary eventually realized.
The book described how her strategist tried to pressure her into protesting President Trump’s win. “Everything you said, we’re going to do in the speech. But you have been saying for many months that he’s temperamentally unfit and that he would be dangerous, and if you meant it, you should say it,” Chief strategist Jake Sullivan told her.
“And you made a case that all these people’s rights and safety are in danger— if you meant that, you should say it,” said Sullivan. Then Hillary responded. “Other people will criticize him. That’s their job. I have done it. I just lost, and that is that. That was my last race,” said Hillary.
