Two-time failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton obviously thought she was going to win the 2016 election in a landslide, and nearly all of the polls had predicted. She thought that she had plenty of votes in her pocket, like the African-American vote and the women’s vote.
Unfortunately for Hillary, tens of millions of American women ended up voting for her Republican Donald Trump, who Hillary’s campaign tried to smear as being anti-woman. Hillary still can’t seem to accept the fact that women would not just have automatically voted for her because she is a woman.
In her book What Happened, Hillary writes that she cannot give “absolution” to women who did not vote for her or do more to help her win. She wrote about the Women’s March in Washington, D.C. that happened earlier this year and made it all about her, stating that she “couldn’t help but ask where those feelings of solidarity, outrage, and passion had been during the election.”
Hillary continued, “Since November, more than two dozen women — of all ages, but mostly in their twenties — had approached me in restaurants, theaters, and stores to apologize for not voting or not doing more to help my campaign. I responded with forced smiles and tight nods.”
She then recalled how one mother forced her daughter to apologize to Hillary in person for not voting for her, claiming that the daughter had her head “bowed in contrition.” Wrote Hillary, “I wanted to stare right in her eyes and say, ‘You didn’t vote? How could you not vote?! You abdicated your responsibility as a citizen at the worst possible time! And now you want me to make you feel better?’ Of course I didn’t say any of that.” She then added about women who didn’t vote for her, “These people were looking for absolution that I just couldn’t give. We all have to live with the consequences of our decisions.” Are you disgusted how Hillary always makes everything about herself?
