You would think Democrats would want Trump to do what he does best: negotiate. However, in a letter, House Democrats tried to treat Trump like a clueless idiot, urging him not to ask for too much, and not ask for denuclearization. However, President Trump defied them, making us very thankful we have someone with backbone as President and not one of them.
Rep. Ro Khanna along with 14 other Democrats wrote a letter to Trump. “Parties and inside and outside of your administration … seek to scuttle progress by attempting to limit the parameters of the talks, including by insisting on full and immediate denuclearization or other unrealistic commitments by North Korea at an early date,” writes Khanna.
“The comments made by National Security Advisor John Bolton, and echoed at times by both yourself and the Vice President, regarding the Libya model — referencing the complete dismantlement of Libya’s fledgling nuclear program — was an especially unconstructive approach given the subsequent NATO intervention and overthrow of the Qaddafi regime in 2011,” writes Khanna.
“Requiring unreasonable concessions before talking, or early in the negotiations process, is precisely why this conflict remains unresolved,” writes Khanna.
However, despite what these spineless Democrats wanted, President Trump got Un to agree to denuclearization. “The world will see a major change. I would like to express my gratitude to President Trump to make this meeting happen,” said Kim Jong Un in a statement.
