The New York Times and many liberal outlets decided to attack “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon because in September he gave a light-hearted interview to Donald Trump back in September. Apparently by not insulting him, he ‘humanized’ the President. For a liberal, it is extremely offensive to acknowledge that the President is a human.
However, Jimmy Fallon didn’t give into the attacks so easily. Although he admitted that he is sensitive and the attacks against him effected him, he also said that he would not be willing to change his humor because of the bullying.
“I don’t want to be bullied into not being me, and not doing what I think is funny. Just because some people bash me on Twitter, it’s not going to change my humor or my show,” said Fallon. Although he has made fun of President Trump in the past he doesn’t want his show to be completely one sided or all about the President.
“I tossed and turned for a couple of weeks, but I have to make people laugh. People that voted for Trump watch my show as well,” said Fallon. “I didn’t do it to humanize him. I almost did it to minimize him. I didn’t think that would be a compliment: ‘He did the thing that we all wanted to do,’” said Fallon.
“If there’s one bad thing on Twitter about me, it will make me upset. So, after this happened, I was devastated. I didn’t mean anything by it. I was just trying to have fun,” said Fallon. Unfortunately, if he wants to please liberals, he will not be allowed to have fun ever again.
