The Conservative news organization Rebel Media confronted CNN anchor Chris Cuomo for extorting the reddit user who made the Trump WWE video. CNN wrote an article describing how they found the user’s identity.
“In the interview, “HanA**holeSolo” sounded nervous about his identity being revealed and asked to not be named out of fear for his personal safety and for the public embarrassment it would bring to him and his family,” wrote CNN.
“CNN is not publishing “HanA**holeSolo’s” name because he is a private citizen who has issued an extensive statement of apology, showed his remorse by saying he has taken down all his offending posts, and because he said he is not going to repeat this ugly behavior on social media again. In addition, he said his statement could serve as an example to others not to do the same,” wrote CNN.
“CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change,” wrote CNN. Chris Cuomo took it a step further by asking twitter followers to decide the fate of the user. “Should CNN reveal name of reddit user who made trump wrestling video? Had a lot of bigoted and hateful material on page and website,” he tweeted.
Rebel Media’s Lara Loomer confronted Cuomo outside. “Do you think it’s appropriate for CNN to be targeting private citizens over memes that CNN doesn’t like?” she asked as Cuomo entered his car. “I don’t think that’s what happened and I think you should look at the other content that was on that site and think about who you are defending,” said Cuomo.
