Trump aide Omarosa Manigault was invited to be a panelist at the National Association of Black Journalists conference in New Orleans. However, things were tense because she is not a Democrat, and apparently that isn’t allowed there. After she was announced, a few panelist dropped out.
Panelist Jelani Cobb dropped out as soon as Manigault was announced. However, Cobb denied that it was JUST because of Manigault that she was dropping out.” It was that she was added at the eleventh hour and it was unclear whether we would be able to discuss substantive issues regarding the administration and its policing policies. Also, the panel was very disorganized, and basic things like format were not clear,” said Cobb.
At the conference, A number of black journalists stood up and turned their backs to her when she spoke. Real mature. BET host Ed Gordon tried to confront Omarosa but she crushed him. The host repeatedly tried to get her to disclose private conversations between her and the President. “Shame on you!” responded Omarosa.
They went on to try and shame her for taking a job under President Trump. She said that when you are offered a job like that “you don’t walk away from the table.”
“I sit at a table where I am not only the only African-American woman, but the only African-American at all. When you have someone in the room, you don’t beat the hell out of them. You inform them of what’s going on in the community so they can be an advocate. You don’t walk away from the table because if you’re not at the table, you’re on the menu,” said Omarosa.
